Samsung’s New SH100 Brings Your World Closer

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced today the launch of the new SH100, a compact Wi-Fi enabled camera that you can share over the internet and social networks with friends and family. Samsung Cameras continuously innovate to satisfy the needs of a new market of wireless camera category.

The SH100 is an advanced model that adds value for consumer through new features like Remote Viewfinder, geo-tagging and PC Auto Backup, which give consumers a new experience of connectivity from their camera.

The new innovative Smart Access user interface delivers easy access and control, moreover emotional satisfaction to smart-phone friendly users. The UI also allows users to drag, click and control ‘app-style’ icons, easily flip through photos, control camera’s features including aperture and shutter speed.

The SH100 also features Samsung AllShare, which uses DLNA technology to allow you to connect to your HDTV and stream content wirelessly – so when you get home from a concert you can watch the videos of your favorite songs straight away on your TV.

Samsung unveils SH100 Wi-Fi Enabled Camera

Samsung today announced the SH100, a compact camera that connects wirelessly to the Internet via WiFi and the Android-powered Galaxy S Smartphone, which lets you view the picture you’ve just taken in real time. Shots can be backed up onto your PC, viewed on a DLNA connected HDTV, and can be uploaded to Facebook, Picasa, Photo Bucket or other online image sharing sites. The SH100 includes an account with Boingo, which offers over 200,000 hot spots worldwide.

Lexar announces first 128GB SDXC Card

With more pro-level cameras adapting the SD memory card format over (or alongside) Compact Flash, the demand for higher-capacity, faster cards is growing. Lexar will unveil at CES the first 128GB SDXC (Secure Digital Extended Capacity) memory card, designed for high-resolution pro photography and videography, as well as a 64GB version. Both cards are class 10 with a maximum speed of 133x, according to Lexar, which may increase speed transfer speed and clear buffers faster in high-end DSLRs and camcorders. But they won’t be cheap: The 64GB card will list for $400 and the 128GB version will be around $700. When they become available in the first quarter of this year, expect the actual street price to be lower.

A big day for Kodak

It’s a busy show for Kodak, introducing a range of products from cameras to HD pocket camcorders to printers and digital frames. Let’s go down the line of new products they unveiled today:

The Kodak ESP C301 is an all-in-one Inkjet Printer/Scanner/Copier that features wireless printing and a new 30 Series Ink System. Kodak, claims 30 Series of pigmented inks are the lowest cost inks on the market, while the AIO is said to use up to 71 percent less energy in standby mode than previous Kodak printers. The ESP C301 is expected in April for $100.

The Kodak Pulse Digital Frame is a next-generation wireless digital frame that distinguishes itself by having its own email address plus a Quick Comment button that lets you share and comment images on Facebook and Kodak Gallery albums. It is expected in the spring for $130 for the 7-inch version and $200 for the 10-inch version.

Kodak also announced a pair of social network-friendly compact HD video cameras, the Playfull (above) and the ruggedized Playsport. Both cameras offer full 1080p HD video and 5MP still image capture, and a share button that lets you email friends or post to a variety of image and video sharing sites. The Playsport is shock- dust- and waterproof down to 10 feet. The Playfull is expected to in a variety of colors in the Spring for $150; the Playsport will be available in black, red, green, white and aqua for $180, also this spring.

In the still camera realm, Kodak announced new, simply-named EasyShare Touch, Mini, Sport cameras as well as an enthusiast-level superzoom EVF compact, the Easyshare Max, in time for CES.

The Kodak EasyShare Max is a 12MP EVF camera with a 30x Schneider-Kreuznach optical zoom lens that starts at 28mm f/2.8 (35mm equivalent). It’s backed by a 3-inch LCD monitor, and offers smart capture and face recognition technology. It captures 1080p videos at 30fps, and has a “share” button that easily accesses social networking/image sharing sites. It’s expected in March for around $330.

The Kodak Easyshare Touch is a 14MP compact digital camera for snapshooters that is controlled via a 3-inch LCD touch screen. Features include 720p HD video, auto organization that sorts images by people, dates and keywords, a 5x optical zoom lens, face recognition, and multiple scene and artistic modes for film and photo booth effects. The Easyshare Touch will be available this spring in silver, black, red-orange, purple and red for about $150.

The Kodak Easyshare Mini is a 10MP camera that is the size of a credit card and is being targeted at teens. Featuring a 3x optical zoom lens and a mirror in the front so your subjects can see themselves as they’re being photographed, the EasyShare Mini has a 2.5-inch LCD, smart capture and face recognition, several scene and color mode options. It will be available this spring in white, purple, red and black for $100.

The Kodak Easyshare Sport is a waterproof and dustproof 12MP camera with a 2.4-inch LCD monitor. It can go down to 10 feet underwater, making it an ideal beach camera. It will be available in a variety of colors this spring for $80.

Liquid Image Unveils New Wearable Sports Cameras

Liquid Image specializes in sports goggles with built-in video cameras, and this year, they’re going HD. The Off-Road Goggle has a 136-degree wide-angle lens with Line-Of-Site video; you put it on, get on your motorcycle, and go. A variation of this is the Summit HD1080p (shown), which offers similar specs but is desiged specifically for skiing or water sports. In both cases, thanks to the wide-angle lens and camera position just above and between the eyes, the camera will capture what you see. Both models are expected to ship in October for around $400.

Super-speed USB Connectivity Promises Faster Transfers for HD Vids

Look out—a new, faster version of USB is coming. The USB Implementers Forum will showcase SuperSpeed USB at CES, and approximately 20 new products using SuperSpeed USB, and it will be demonstrated by showing real-time capture of 1080p video at 60 frames per second, so you can pretty much guess who this new technology is being designed for.

CameraJet Promises Ultrawideband Wireless Image Transfer

Alereon, an ultra wideband (UWB) company, and Spectec Computer, a mobile device solutions provide, will unveil the Spectec CameraJet, a wireless transfer solution which the companies say will boost speed and connectivity when transferring images and videos wirelessly. The CameraJet consists of a Wi-Jet SD card and a Wi-Jet USB dongle that can connect to HDTVs, PCs, digital media adaptors and mass storage devices and lets you transfer images without removing the memory card from the camera. No specs or pricing are available yet, but they’re gearing up to start production in February.

Nissin Di622 Mark II Flash

Indie flash maker Nissin has upgraded its popular Di622 camera-mounted flash. The Di622 Mark II adds wireless TTL, a new way of controlling flash compensation, and an external X-sync socket. It has a guide number of 62 meters at ISO 200, and is compatible with Nikon i-TTL and Canon’s E-TTL and E-TTLII systems. It’s expected to list for around $350.

What’s your hobby?

I don’t think I haven’t mentioned anything about what I do. I’m currently attending at George Brown College in Toronto as a student for Jewellery Arts program. Because I have some spare time this year, I tried to make a piece with leftover materials from last year.

It’s not a finished piece – silver is not polished and stones are not set. I’m trying to make a pendant for necklace but not decided yet for sure.. We’ll see what happen later. :) I’ll show you the finished piece in the future IF I finish this in this term… lol

I usually take a rest at home with having some tea or coffee after coming back from school or work. I had huge interest on black tea about 5 years ago and it became one of my hobbies. I still enjoy making variety kinds of tea not using tea bags – like milk tea, fruit tea, iced tea, or tea from other countries like Russian tea. (I recommend Russian tea for people who cannot sleep easily at night!)

Today, I’ve decided to have my favourite tea, Assam.

These are some of tea that I have. I usually buy small bags to taste more and not to keep tea leaves too long, except Assam because it’s my all time favourite!

Standard of tea for one person is one teakettle, so about two and half tea cups in total. But that’s what it says in Europe or by tea experts so the amount of tea is totally up to people who are drinking. :)

These are the kettle and teacup that I’m using. Porcelain kettle is better than the iron one because it keeps the heat and scent of tea longer. I also enjoy white colour teacup to see the colour of tea. :)

Using tap water is the best for tea because more oxygen in water gives you better taste of tea. If you don’t have tap water, shaken bottle of water is fine too. :)

First boiling water is for warming up the kettle and teacup. Warmed up kettle makes more movement of tea leaves so it can give you smooth and deep taste and scent. Keep hot water in kettle while you boil water again for tea.

After 2 or 3 minutes later, throw away hot water from kettle and put 1 heaping teaspoon of tea leaf. That’s what it says on the guide but again, it’s totally up to the person who will enjoy it. :) Better close the kettle after put tea leaf to not to lose the scent!

I usually have a first cup after 2 minutes brewing it especially for Assam, because Assam has strong taste. I recommend Assam for milk tea as well from that point. :) Having some sweet cookies or sweet scone is also a good match with Assam straight tea.

New Samsung WB650 Digital Camera Review

Tag your Memory EP3. Are you a fan of Geotagging and Social Network? Than, ST1000(CL65) is your answer!!

In my last two postings, we took a look at how to use ST1000 (CL65) for geotagging. Today, I would like to share three characteristics of ST1000 (CL65) before finishing my series on ‘Tag your memory’.

I will be covering the following three features today.

l How to do real-time location logging (geotagging) using Wi-Fi and GPS and post real-time on various web albums

l How to take pictures at various modes using Smart Auto function

l How to select menu and flip through photos by tilting the camera to the front, back and to the sides with Smart Gesture UI

1. Wireless network – GPS, Wi-Fi

I went over in detail the wireless network functions of ST1000(CL65) in the previous two postings. In particular, uploading photos through AP access, uploading to social media (not accessible of web authentication is required), and geo-tagging using GPS are key features of ST1000(CL65).

Use Wi-Fi to e-mail photos that you took to your friends and upload them to Picasa, Facebook, YouTube, Samsungimaging, Flickr or Twitter. ST1000(CL65)’s Wi-Fi enables you to quickly send and share photos cable free, even when you are on the move .

You can also use GPS function to match the photos you took using web albums such as Panoramio and Picasa with Google Map or Google Earth. Uploading photos that you took while traveling or of nice restaurants and sharing them with your friends will be tons of fun.

Take note that battery lasts shorter with GSP function on. If you are planning to use GPS function for a long time, make sure to take along extra batteries with you!

2. Smart Auto

Many of the recently launched Samsung Cameras have smart auto function. This function automatically analyzes the surroundings at the time of shooting and helps to capture optimal results. For example, if you are taking portraits, the camera will automatically apply beauty shot function to correct the skin. During night time, the mode is set to night mode and would flash an icon recommending the use of tripod.

3. Smart Gesture UI

Have you ever tried G-sensor? Many gadgets including mobile phones come with G-sensor, which is a motion sensor. ST1000(CL65) is no exception! If you shake your camera or turn it this and that way, the pre-set functions will run automatically. This means that you can turn on or turn off a certain function with one snap, without ever having to press buttons multiple times!

With ST1000(CL65), you don’t need to manipulate with force for accurate recognition. Simply shift the direction and the functions will come into action. If you tilt the camera sideways under photo album, you can flip through the photos back and forth.

ST1000(CL65) offers many other functions not described here. Yet, these three are the key differentiating factors.

ST1000(CL65) will be the best choice for not only SNS users but also those who love to travel or those who want to share information with many others.

EP2. ST1000(CL65) meets Twitter

Hi! It’s been a while since the last posting. Last time, we took a look at geotagging using Intelli Studio. Today we are going to take a look at uploading the geotagged photos directly to twitter using ST1000(CL65).

ST1000(CL65) has built-in functions that enables you to use Wi-fi to upload pictures to Picasa, Facebook, YouTube and Samsungimaging.com. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support updating pictures to Twitter. That is why I want to guide you through how to use the e-mail function in ST1000(CL65) and Flickr2Twitter to upload pictures.

First, go to Flickr2Twitter(http://www.flickr.com/account/blogs/add/twitter) to sign up for an e-mail account. If you use the e-mail function of ST1000(CL65) using this e-mail account, you can upload both to Twitter and Flickr. This is how you do it step by step.

Move to the Authorize page of Flickr2Twitter.

Select ‘Allow’, of course.

If you are done with this process, you will receive an e-mail account that allows you to
update using mobile device.

I guess you had no problem following me up to this point, right? Now, let’s turn on ST1000(CL65). Go to Wireless Networking Mode.

Using the e-mail account you received, send the pictures via Wi-fi. After a few minutes, you will be able to see that the pictures have been uploaded to your Twitter and Flickr account.

However, Flickr will only show a message saying that the photo has been sent from ST1000(CL65). You simply need to correct this at Flickr.

If you were to activate the GPS function, you will be able to record the location of the photos you took using Flickr.

Of course, with ST1000(CL65), you can use Intelli Studio to upload directly to Flickr or to Facebook.

On Thursday, August 13th, Samsung launched a trio of cameras that transform the way consumers take and share photos. The press conference, held at the Samsung Experience in New York City, showed off the technologies and features that can be found in the Samsung DualView Cameras (ST550(TL225) and ST500(TL220)) as well as in the new connected camera, the ST1000(CL65).

The Samsung ST550(TL225) and ST500(TL220) bring the latest in compact camera innovation to consumers with Dual LCD screens on the front and back, offering twice the fun of any camera and allowing the user to take photographs they simply couldn’t take before. The growing popularity of social networking sites has given rise to the self-portrait or profile picture with many consumers turning their digital camera on themselves to become the subject of their photo.
