Sweet Daddy’s Sweet Event

After done my school term, I’m currently enjoying my spare time. On last Friday, weather was too good to just staying at home so I decided to walk for awhile. When I reached to the Eaton Centre – the biggest shopping mall in downtown Toronto – I saw a guy sitting down and drawing on the sidewalk.

I’ve seen many people dancing, playing instruments, or performing other talents in front of Eaton Centre but it was my first time to see someone drawing on the sidewalk. His drawing was amazing but what he wrote caught my eyes more than the drawing.

Hello folks. I’m using my chalky powers to try and raise the funds I need to make it to Halifax next week for my little girl’s 11^th birthday with a little laptop for her very first computer for a present. This is a huge, lofty and improbable goal to reach so any and all donations are appreciated.

He was trying to get his little girl’s birthday present by performing his talent, not borrowing other people’s hand. I thought it was very sweet thing that daddy can do and actually moved my heart. To be honest, it was my first time to donate to street performer except when I travelled in Europe.

I think he was drawing characters from the movie ‘Iron Man’ – not sure, because I didn’t watch it – and they looked realistic. :)

What’s your hobby?

I don’t think I haven’t mentioned anything about what I do. I’m currently attending at George Brown College in Toronto as a student for Jewellery Arts program. Because I have some spare time this year, I tried to make a piece with leftover materials from last year.

It’s not a finished piece – silver is not polished and stones are not set. I’m trying to make a pendant for necklace but not decided yet for sure.. We’ll see what happen later. :) I’ll show you the finished piece in the future IF I finish this in this term… lol

I usually take a rest at home with having some tea or coffee after coming back from school or work. I had huge interest on black tea about 5 years ago and it became one of my hobbies. I still enjoy making variety kinds of tea not using tea bags – like milk tea, fruit tea, iced tea, or tea from other countries like Russian tea. (I recommend Russian tea for people who cannot sleep easily at night!)

Today, I’ve decided to have my favourite tea, Assam.

These are some of tea that I have. I usually buy small bags to taste more and not to keep tea leaves too long, except Assam because it’s my all time favourite!

Standard of tea for one person is one teakettle, so about two and half tea cups in total. But that’s what it says in Europe or by tea experts so the amount of tea is totally up to people who are drinking. :)

These are the kettle and teacup that I’m using. Porcelain kettle is better than the iron one because it keeps the heat and scent of tea longer. I also enjoy white colour teacup to see the colour of tea. :)

Using tap water is the best for tea because more oxygen in water gives you better taste of tea. If you don’t have tap water, shaken bottle of water is fine too. :)

First boiling water is for warming up the kettle and teacup. Warmed up kettle makes more movement of tea leaves so it can give you smooth and deep taste and scent. Keep hot water in kettle while you boil water again for tea.

After 2 or 3 minutes later, throw away hot water from kettle and put 1 heaping teaspoon of tea leaf. That’s what it says on the guide but again, it’s totally up to the person who will enjoy it. :) Better close the kettle after put tea leaf to not to lose the scent!

I usually have a first cup after 2 minutes brewing it especially for Assam, because Assam has strong taste. I recommend Assam for milk tea as well from that point. :) Having some sweet cookies or sweet scone is also a good match with Assam straight tea.

Welcome to Canada – ‘s AutoShow 2010!

Hello, there. :)

I’m Rach, currently living in Toronto, Canada. SamsungImaging gave me a chance to use Samsung ST1000 (CL65), so I would like to share my sights with you – not only Toronto, but also wherever I go and whatever I do in days. :)

To celebrate getting ST1000(CL65), I decided to go AutoShow 2010 with my friend. AutoShow is open annually at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, but this is my first time to visit the show – made me so excited!

Welcome to the show! The show closes at 10pm so my friend and I went to the show around 6pm. However, a lot of people were still visiting the centre.

The first booth welcomed us were Acura and Honda. I like both Honda and Toyota lines but I like more sedans for Honda or Acura, and SUVs for Toyota or Lexus. Personally, I like SUVs in general. :)

Next, the ‘noble sport cars’ from Italy – Maserati vs. Ferarri! Which one do you like better?

And my favourite car brand – Infiniti! I love their G, EX, and FX series. This one was their ‘concept car’ – Essence – for this show. Looks like a batman car, isn’t it? :)

Next stop were Toyota and Lexus. Even though there was a lot of news about ‘recall of Toyota’ in these days, their booths were even bigger than other brands from Europe.

Toyota’s hybrid car, Prius. It was pretty interesting that you can drive for a while just charging it with electricity!

At the Lexus booth, I saw hard-top convertible car changes its roof for the first time! That really WOWed me with its cool surrounded sound system.

Is there anyone interested in racing car, Shelby? There was a special space for Carroll Shelby’s racing cars – from antique to the unique versions.

Hyundai and Kia did an event to win a car by entering the ticket number they gave us. We participated the event too and hoped to have luck to win! :)

Hyundai’s booth was neat and big enough to exhibit their models. Genesis – Hyundai’s next generation – was there too.

It was great to see Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and other luxury brands from Europe but those booths were too crowded unlike others. What a shame that I couldn’t see them in various but meeting Jaguar – the gentle-sports car from England – was a pleasant because I can’t meet them on street so often compare to others.

Tag your Memory EP3. Are you a fan of Geotagging and Social Network? Than, ST1000(CL65) is your answer!!

In my last two postings, we took a look at how to use ST1000 (CL65) for geotagging. Today, I would like to share three characteristics of ST1000 (CL65) before finishing my series on ‘Tag your memory’.

I will be covering the following three features today.

l How to do real-time location logging (geotagging) using Wi-Fi and GPS and post real-time on various web albums

l How to take pictures at various modes using Smart Auto function

l How to select menu and flip through photos by tilting the camera to the front, back and to the sides with Smart Gesture UI

1. Wireless network – GPS, Wi-Fi

I went over in detail the wireless network functions of ST1000(CL65) in the previous two postings. In particular, uploading photos through AP access, uploading to social media (not accessible of web authentication is required), and geo-tagging using GPS are key features of ST1000(CL65).

Use Wi-Fi to e-mail photos that you took to your friends and upload them to Picasa, Facebook, YouTube, Samsungimaging, Flickr or Twitter. ST1000(CL65)’s Wi-Fi enables you to quickly send and share photos cable free, even when you are on the move .

You can also use GPS function to match the photos you took using web albums such as Panoramio and Picasa with Google Map or Google Earth. Uploading photos that you took while traveling or of nice restaurants and sharing them with your friends will be tons of fun.

Take note that battery lasts shorter with GSP function on. If you are planning to use GPS function for a long time, make sure to take along extra batteries with you!

2. Smart Auto

Many of the recently launched Samsung Cameras have smart auto function. This function automatically analyzes the surroundings at the time of shooting and helps to capture optimal results. For example, if you are taking portraits, the camera will automatically apply beauty shot function to correct the skin. During night time, the mode is set to night mode and would flash an icon recommending the use of tripod.

3. Smart Gesture UI

Have you ever tried G-sensor? Many gadgets including mobile phones come with G-sensor, which is a motion sensor. ST1000(CL65) is no exception! If you shake your camera or turn it this and that way, the pre-set functions will run automatically. This means that you can turn on or turn off a certain function with one snap, without ever having to press buttons multiple times!

With ST1000(CL65), you don’t need to manipulate with force for accurate recognition. Simply shift the direction and the functions will come into action. If you tilt the camera sideways under photo album, you can flip through the photos back and forth.

ST1000(CL65) offers many other functions not described here. Yet, these three are the key differentiating factors.

ST1000(CL65) will be the best choice for not only SNS users but also those who love to travel or those who want to share information with many others.

EP2. ST1000(CL65) meets Twitter

Hi! It’s been a while since the last posting. Last time, we took a look at geotagging using Intelli Studio. Today we are going to take a look at uploading the geotagged photos directly to twitter using ST1000(CL65).

ST1000(CL65) has built-in functions that enables you to use Wi-fi to upload pictures to Picasa, Facebook, YouTube and Samsungimaging.com. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support updating pictures to Twitter. That is why I want to guide you through how to use the e-mail function in ST1000(CL65) and Flickr2Twitter to upload pictures.

First, go to Flickr2Twitter(http://www.flickr.com/account/blogs/add/twitter) to sign up for an e-mail account. If you use the e-mail function of ST1000(CL65) using this e-mail account, you can upload both to Twitter and Flickr. This is how you do it step by step.

Move to the Authorize page of Flickr2Twitter.

Select ‘Allow’, of course.

If you are done with this process, you will receive an e-mail account that allows you to
update using mobile device.

I guess you had no problem following me up to this point, right? Now, let’s turn on ST1000(CL65). Go to Wireless Networking Mode.

Using the e-mail account you received, send the pictures via Wi-fi. After a few minutes, you will be able to see that the pictures have been uploaded to your Twitter and Flickr account.

However, Flickr will only show a message saying that the photo has been sent from ST1000(CL65). You simply need to correct this at Flickr.

If you were to activate the GPS function, you will be able to record the location of the photos you took using Flickr.

Of course, with ST1000(CL65), you can use Intelli Studio to upload directly to Flickr or to Facebook.

Do you remember orangutan photographer Nonja? She’s back.

Last year, Nonja the orangutan photographer taking self-portraits with ST1000(CL65) was an issue. You can check out the previous post about Nonja, click here.

She has put her pictures up for auction on eBay for her relatives in her friends in Borneo.
The artistic ape’s handiwork has been viewed by tens of thousands of fans on Facebook after keepers at Vienna’s Schoenbrunn zoo in Austria gave her ST1000(CL65) and set up a Facebook account for her. Snaps from ST1000(CL65) are uploaded instantly over a Wi-Fi link.

The best 20 pictures of Nonja had been had been unveiled in the zoo and the framed works printed on canvas were being sold online on eBay.

The total income of auction achieved €2,539 and the highest prices was €361. The money from the auction will be donated to protecting the habitat of wild orangutans in Borneo
