What about the NX100 in 2010?

As a follow-up to the NX10, the NX100 was launched in September, becoming Samsung’s second mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. With its unique design of a leaf, morning dew, and i-Function lens, the NX100 created buzz in the second half of 2010, gaining as much popularity as the NX10. The product appealed particularly strong to those who value style. The lens offers unique functions that camera manias would only have dreamt of! Its biggest strength is the ability to adjust the features without taking your eyes off the view finder; you can capture every moment of the subject. The lens was also well-received by users of the NX10 as a simple firmware is enough to have it compatible with the NX100.

Continuing on my last posting NX10’s Hot Issues, let’s take a look back at the year for the NX100.

Samsung finally unveiled NX100 and i-Function lens!

The NX10 was first unveiled in Hong Kong in September. With no official information on the NX100 until the unveiling ceremony, users as well as the press showed keen interest.

The NX10 in the hands of ‘OK Go,’ a world-famous rock band. The NX100 is at the center of producing the music video for their latest song ‘Last Leaf.’ From the first meeting to the music video production, collaboration of OK Go with NX100 was recorded in video.

Commemorating OK Go’s music video where thousands of toasts appear, Samsungimaging’s global campaign site (www.cre8yourworld.com) held an exciting event where you can upload a picture of yourself and make it into a toast!

NX Lens Line-Up, ready to retain its title in 2011

The next line-up to the new concept, i-Function lens was also revealed. The new lens for 2011 includes a movie pro 18-200mm lens, 16mm wide pancake lens, and the macro 60mm lens that many are waiting for.

The NX100′s Leaf Design Won the PIN UP Design Awards!

One of the biggest benefits of the NX100 is its design. At the PIN UP Design Awards, the NX100 received the bronze award for Electronic Devices for its ergonomic design.

The NX100 once again received the spotlight when it collaborated with the musicians OK Go. If you like music, surely you would know ‘OK Go,’ a YouTube indie band. The process of producing ‘Last leaf’ was made into several episodes utilizing the NX100, which you can enjoy on-line. Here is episode 1, the first step to the birth of the ‘Last Leaf’ music video.

This photo portrays a striking balance of three glasses filled with red, yellow, and blue liquid. Also, the dark hand behind the glass in contrast with the three colors helps the picture to maintain balance. Highly praised for its ‘excellent idea’ from users, the picture more than fully portrays color from the Samsung camera.

This breathtaking picture was taken using the long exposure of the NX100. The flow of the water curbing the valley resembles white clouds. The 20mm lens and 30 seconds shutter speed well illustrates the flow of water. Why don’t you try it yourself at a near-by river or valley?

The NX100 performs excellently even in a very dark environment. This is a picture of a bridge at night with lights on. A low ISO is used to capture as much of the little light as possible for a warm and beautiful picture. You’ll need equipments such as a tripod and a long nose, but with the NX100, you can easily become a professional even in dark settings!

The NX10′s Hot Issues of 2010!

Goodbye 2010!

What happened at Samsungimaging this year? If I were to choose the most popular Samsung camera launched this year, it will definitely be the NX10. The NX10 was Samsung’s first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, whose compact body, high resolution, and rapid AF sensor fulfilled the needs of its users.

Let’s take a look back from this year for Samsung’s NX10 through the SNS channel (Samsungimaging blog, YouTube, and Flickr).

Samsung NX10 Finally Unveiled!

With the start of the New Year, NX10 unveiled its presence in January 2010. Although the NX10 didn’t have a mirror or pentaprism function, the APS-C sensor delivered on both portability and performance.

10.000 Follower Giveaway – The Winner

Commemorating 10,000 followers on Samsungimaging’s Twitter channel, an event was held under the NX10’s leading slogan, ‘Why Capture? Create!’. The first place winner was awarded the NX10. There was a rush of applicants, but the photo of a cute little girl reading a newspaper with the slogan won the competition.

WCIC Final TEN in Seoul

In April, WCIC was held where photos taken with the NX10 competed. With students from six countries around the world, voting was conducted on-line. The top ten participants were invited to hold exhibitions in Korea and to attend the awards ceremony.

National Geographic: The World through Samsung NX10

So, is there anything the NX10 can’t capture? Samsungimaging organized ‘The World through Samsung NX10’ campaign with photographers from National Geographic. Two photographers traveled from Barcelona, Spain to Chengdu, China with the NX10 in their hands to portray the unique landscapes of the two countries. The campaign was instrumental in demonstrating that mirrorless cameras can create works just as nice as those with DSLR; the showcase at Photokina received much spotlight.

Samsungimaging Wins Two DIMA 2010 Innovative Digital Product Awards

Experts were no exception when it came to complimenting the NX10. The NX10 won various awards this year including the Tefra Awards, DIMA 2010 Innovative Digital Product Awards, and PFV Fair.

YouTube’s Featured Videos from this year!

Here are a few NX10 videos that created much buzz on the YouTube channel. As much spotlight that it received, a wide variety of NX10 viral videos were produced.

In this video, stop motion technique is used to illustrate the NX10 in a familiar way. The video seems to deliver the message that the camera is light in weight and can be used in an environment with a wide variety of fun. You do not need to be a professional to enjoy high quality photo!)

The video aptly demonstrates the camera slogan ‘Why Capture? Create!’

As much buzz as the camera created, ‘Video Making Story’ was also highly popular. Some 1,429 slices were cut to make the paper camera and the smallest details such as the shape and hot key were reproduced to accurately represent the camera. Check out the film making process on the YouTube channel.

The inside of the NX10 is represented in flipbook format for easier understanding. The whole book was flipped using hands in 30 seconds. The pentaprism and mirror have been removed, reducing the volume of the body and weight. Being much lighter than the DSLR, the camera is much more portable. Check out the video for basic understanding of interchangeable lens.

This portrait was the most viewed in the Samsungzone Flickr Photostream. The photo of young kids was taken by Yonghyun Chi, an NX10 imageloger, on his tour of India. The warm color and the facial expression of the models are impressive.

It was taken on a quiet street in the dead of the night from the second floor of a building. The street is dark but the bright lighting from a store at the center of the photo makes it appear as if a pinhole effect was used.

A great work in low illumination received high scores with many registering it as ‘My Favorite.’

Daily objects that you see everywhere viewed from a different angle sometimes creates totally different yet marvelous subjects. The two eggs in the red bowl look like the face of a person. Daniel Kulinski, a NX10 imageloger and photographer is famous for looking at mundane objects from a fresh angle. Try to look at your familiar surrounding with fresh eyes – you will get great pictures!!

Last but not least is Ben Heine, who always entertains us with creative ideas. Already an on-line star, he has joined hands with the NX10 this time.

Las Vegas, und tschuess!

Today is the day; I’m going to post my very last post on SamsungImaging.net

Although, I only published three articles, and none of them were really interesting, I enjoyed writing for this blog.

In my last post, I won’t explain stuff, however, something which all other bloggers do:

Uploading pictures, telling you how great the place was and so on.

As some of you may know, I went to this year’s CES 2010 in Vegas, and I actually wanted to share some photos taken in Vegas.

To be precise, this was my first ever time in Las Vegas. I went to other cities in the States; however Las Vegas was completely different from all the other cities I’ve ever visited.

First of all, Las Vegas houses a very special ambient.

Bling bling everywhere, fast-food shops hidden inside Casinos, no casual malls and lots of hotels.

Anyhow, my flight to the Vegas was as spectacular as the city, itself. In L.A., I almost lost my luggage because of an airport staff member, who insisted that I had to leave my luggage at the exit. Then after arriving in Las Vegas, the cap I took ripped me off, something the staff at the hotel told me after I paid more than 40 bucks and as if this wasn’t enough, I was jet-lagged.
