WCIC Final TEN in Seoul

WCIC, The World Creative Imaging Competition, finally announced ten ‘creative’ students from different countries, China, France, Germany, Korea, the U.K and the U.S.

Samsung Electronics.Ltd has opened the WCIC for art school students in the world, and students were supposed to submit three images which represent a ‘Creative Moment’ and a video clip describing him/herself with the NX10 and three lenses.

And Samsung held the final event for them, named ‘WCIC Final in Seoul’ at Samsung d’light April 28^th. The final 10 winners were chosen by a combination of public online voting and expert evaluation.

Six students of them are the competitors who got the highest score from each country. And three students are the top 3 except the highest score students. The other student is fan’s favorite photographer who has the most supporters.

The students flied to Seoul, Korea to attend ‘WCIC Final in Seoul’. First, they had a tour of Samsung d’light Digital Lounge with staff. On the ground floor, there was a main event ‘WCIC award’.

Song Ying, the winner from China, said “Samsung NX10 is light and easy to take that it’s a perfect camera to describe my creativity wherever I am”

After the event, the attendees had a time to see the pictures of students on the Global Gallery. Students explained and had an interview about their work.

“WCIC shows that camera is not just a ‘tool’ taking pictures, but camera can be used as a ‘creative tool’ making stories” said Sangjin Park, Samsung Electronic.Ltd’s president of the digital imaging business. “We will support various global campaigns with NX10 for development of culture and art.”

Those 10 winners have their work put on display at a prestigious art gallery in Beijing, China.

Vote for a preferred photo – 10 rounds in total – and you can share your favorited photos via Facebook, Twitter, Renren or e-mail. Or pick your favorite “Creative Moment” captured by the 120 young, talented people and share it on Facebook or your blogs.

b. Support!
Visit www.cr8yourworld.com, pick your favorite future artist and click the “show your support!” button.

3. How will the 10 winners be selected?

People who select their favorite photo and share it on Facebook or blogs are eligible to win. In addition, people who are a supporter for one of the 120 young, talented people and have already been a supporter on the microsite are also eligible to win. Winners will be selected on a random basis. Good luck!

Event Terms and Conditions

1. By entering a competition, entrants accept these terms and conditions together with any specific instructions as any electronic messages or any other forms of communication to entrants (“event information”). 3. This competition is presented by Cheil Worldwide is open to anyone with a Facebook account who is at least 18 years of age. Employees and family members of Cheil and/or its affiliated companies are not eligible to win.

4. Ten winners to be randomly selected will receive a prize. Upon the proof of ownership of the said mailing address, the prize will be shipped directly to an each resident of the winners. The prize will be decided at the discretion of Cheil Worldwide.

5. Supporting, Voting and Sharing of Images
Entrants can get a chance to obtain a prize by either voting for their favorite photos among ones randomly selected and shown on the microsite (http://www.cr8yourworld.com), sharing their favorite ones on Facebook / blogs or being a supporter for their favorite ones during the event which starts on March 30 and ends on April 11. People who have been a supporter already on the microsite are automatically eligible to win. All participation activities will be reviewed and we reserve the right to disqualify any selections that is believed to be inappropriate.

6. Winners will be announced on April 20 on our microsite or Facebook Fan page (www.facebook.com/samsungnx). It’s the responsibility of each participant to check if she / he has won.

7. Entrants’ personal details will be used for the purpose of this event only by Cheil and Samsung strictly in accordance with their privacy policy.

8. Neither Cheil Worldwide nor its affiliated companies shall have any liability for (i) any technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware of software; (ii) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the competition; (iii) any malfunction of or damage to the prizes; or (iv) any restrictions or delays imposed by any customs authorities or any import or other taxes of any kind imposed by any taxation authority in respect to the prizes.

EVOLUTION OF CAMERA, Samsung NX10

Samsung Digital Imaging has provided the author of this review with the mentioned digital imaging device.

Full Manual Mode

Users can adjust aperture, shutter speed, color effects, and white balance freely.

P-mode : Program Mode

The camera automatically adjusts aperture and shutter by sensing the surroundings.

A-mode : Aperture Mode

Users can set a certain aperture value and the shutter speed is automatically adjusted by the camera.

S-mode : Shutter Mode

Users can set a certain shutter speed and the aperture is automatically adjusted by the camera.

M-mode : Manual Mode

Both Shutter speed and Aperture are adjusted by users.

Saturation

WCIC, World Creative Imaging Competition has finally started. Selected 20 students from each country (120 in total) are now ready to ‘create moment’.

NX10 cameras with 3 lenses have been provided to the students. And the students will submit three images which represent a ‘creative moment’ and a video clip describing him/herself until March 29^th. After that, an online gallery opens and the global voting process begins.

About WCIC

The ‘World Creative Imaging Competition’ is a campaign that will be announced on 2^nd March 2010 (TBD). This competition is designed to position the Samsung NX10 camera as a creative tool for the audience segment that can be referred to internally as the ‘Creative Class’. The creative class is a group of people who relate to the idea that creativity is a fundamental part of their life including those from artistic careers such as artists, designers and architects. Our goal is to let the creative class inspire the NX10’s target audience, which will encourage them to buy the product.

In order to position the NX10 in this way the campaign links to the creative class by engaging with students from world-class art schools, encouraging them to use the NX10 camera to create high-quality photographs and HD-quality moving images. This will be achieved through the competition mechanic.

The competition process

The international competition will be promoted in the six Samsung Digital Imaging Company top-tier countries: the UK, France, Germany, USA, Korea and China.

In each country a leading creative arts further education establishment will be the focus of a competition which will feed into a global competition themed around the ‘Creative Moment’.

The education establishments participating include:
