Rotting a Halloween Pumpkin -- S16

A few weeks ago, we carved out a healthy pumpkin and made a fun stop motion video with it.
After that, we didn't throw our pumpkin away. We actually let it rot until it's completely destroyed.

NX100 goes Halloween!

I decide to do Halloween greeting painting.

On the camera skin.

This is NX100.

I drew a sketch roughly but had no specific idea.

Because the camera was made of the plastic, I thought it would be okay to use the enamel for the plastic goods.

I borrowed it and then painted NX100 first. Que sera sera!

I screwed up!

I wasn’t aware of how much I mix the solvent with the enamel, since I’ve never used it…
Yeah, I didn’t know how to use it. I screwed up anyway.

So at this time I try to use the acrylic paint.

No idea whether or not what happens to this filthy camera. I just keep going.

The acrylic paint works better than the enamel. (But it’s a mess as well.)

I drew the sky and tree in the above background. To paint something like bats is later…

Speaking of Halloween, we cannot miss the jack-o’-lantern. I painted a rough orange.

And I painted details with its eyes, nose and mouth.

Drawing the haunted house and bats…
Would it be better to wrote letters ‘Halloween’ on that?

Including a ghost…

A black cat…

And so on…

I did not touch up NX100 logo without coloring.

It’s finished.

Could you feel Halloween atmosphere? HaHa

If I can get an opportunity to do like this later again, I will prepare enough.

Halloween in Colombia

Halloween is one of the big holiday in Colombia. Every year the 31st of October, people dress up in costumes and face paint or special make up for Halloween. Even workers in office and stores, they also wear funny costumes. Their costumes are so interesting. Those are from animals, a superman, fairies, witches, princesses, soldiers and cartoon characters.

“Trick or treat?” Children have a small parade with pumpkin lanterns and parents bring their children to the mall to go from store to store where treats are handed out to them. Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sweets, with that question.

There are Halloween parties too. Many homes and pubs held dancing parties in the evening. You can see Batman dancing with Snow White on the street. Music is everywhere and all the people smile. “Feliz Halloween!”

Crazy night out

I had waited, waited, and waited for Halloween Parade so badly. The weather on that day, however, did not stand by me. It was RAINING!!!!!

The Halloween Parade in West Village was planned to start at 6 pm but was postponed for an hour due to the weather. I managed to complete my own costume by 7 pm and took pictures with my coworkers to celebrate a happy Halloween. (I work at the computer lab on campus)

My costume is a female Korean historical entertainer from 16 century, Hwang Jin Yi. Korean fashion designer, Younghee Lee, actually inspired me and I adopted most of the design from her. It was a shame that I couldn’t finish a gorgeous hat for my hair and traditional type of handbag. But I could comfort myself being proud of the fact that I made the dress by myself. In the middle, my supervisor Patrick is being a western cowboy, and my Japanese friend Mariko is acting as Marie, a cat character from Disney animation, The Aristocats.

So I hurried up to get dressed and put on my makeup. Tada~ what do you think?

I directly headed to the party instead of watching the parade in the rain. I saw a number of people who were taking a train to move from west to east side.

The majority of people who are over 21 years old usually celebrate Halloween at a bar or a club or a private house party after the parade. I RSVP’d to one wine bar near Spring Street at which the parade ended.

I asked these two ladies to pose for me. Yeah, she is ready to dive in!

She represented Amelia, who is an American aviation pioneer. Recently the movie Amelia was released.

He was dressed up as a dwarf from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But it was funny that big figured person was acting like a tiny dwarf.

I guess this guy was promoting the website or was dressed up as an elementary particle in physics.

While I was running to another bar, I saw little angels in the doorway. I could not pass without capturing the moment.

I “met” one of my favorite designers, Karl Lagerfeld.

He is my friend, Wil, dressed up as Alex from A Clockwork Orange. He put on mascara on his right eye to exaggerate the character’s uneven eyes. I loved the detail and I laughed at his so-so British accent.

Even though the main purpose of Halloween is diluted, the holiday gives people the opportunity to express themselves and enjoy the escape from the daily life. Plus, you can enjoy sweetness of the “trick or treat.”
