Today, I want to share the attractions of Colombian food.

Desayuno : breakfast

Hot chocolate, scramble eggs and arepa or small breads are Colombian simple breakfast style. Arepa is the corn bread of the Latin Americans. It looks like white pancake and it filled with meat, cheese, or coconut. For me, arepa tastes nothing special but Latin American really loves to have it.

Almuerzo : Lunch sets

Almuerzo is typical Lunch set of Colombia. Usually called Almuerzo Corriente or Menu del dia. The standard almuerzo would start with a bowl of typical soup(milk and sugar soup, vegetable soup, chicken and corn soup etc.) followed by a full plate with beef or chicken, salads, rice, a fried plantains, beans, greens, pastas and potatoes included frech fruit juice. Bandeja Paisa : Typical food of Colombia

Bandeja Paisa can feature minced or grilled steak, fried pork belly (chicharron), red beans, rice, arepa, a fried plantain, blood sausage(chorizo), a small salad and a fried egg. This is one of the most well-known Colombian dishes.

Ajiaco & Pescado

Ajiaco is Colombia’s national dish. It made by two or three kinds of native potatoes, chickens, corns and beans. This is rich main dish stew and so delicious. Pescado is a plate fried fishs. It’s so easy to enjoy at the Caribbean coast.

There are 3 types of fast food in Colombia. Pizzas, hamburgers, and hot dogs. These are big, variously and tasty. You can find lots of recipes for savory sauces and toppings. The price difference between restaurants and streets. Everythings are so sweet and tasty.

Gold Museum in Colombia

The Gold Museum (Museo del Oro) displays unique selection of Colombian gold work collection. This is very popular with tourists and you can find the reason when you visit there. Also, it is one of the best museum I have visited.

Bogota’s Gold Museum exhibits the world’s biggest collection of 33,000 pieces pre-Hispanic gold and also the most important museum in Colombia because it is the symbol of El Dorado legend. The collection includes golden masks, bracelets, necklaces and breast plates created from 500 B.C. until the Spaniards arrived in the 16th century. Together with special potteries, a mummy and ancient shells. All artifacts are fabulous and exquisite.

Gold Museum is an absolute highlight and you can see how the ancient culture of Colombia was.

Halloween in Colombia

Halloween is one of the big holiday in Colombia. Every year the 31st of October, people dress up in costumes and face paint or special make up for Halloween. Even workers in office and stores, they also wear funny costumes. Their costumes are so interesting. Those are from animals, a superman, fairies, witches, princesses, soldiers and cartoon characters.

“Trick or treat?” Children have a small parade with pumpkin lanterns and parents bring their children to the mall to go from store to store where treats are handed out to them. Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sweets, with that question.

There are Halloween parties too. Many homes and pubs held dancing parties in the evening. You can see Batman dancing with Snow White on the street. Music is everywhere and all the people smile. “Feliz Halloween!”

Colombia is the well-known origin of coffee and it is famous for its rich taste and high quality.

From big chains such as Juan Valdez and Oma to nameless locals, so many coffee shops can make you satisfied. First, Juan Valdez is the most famous coffee chain in Colombia and this also is the symbol of Colombian coffee. A coffee farmer and his donkey character has become an icon for Colombia as well as coffee in general.

They have delightful atmosphere and decorated with antiques. Also they offer a breakfast or deserts, tropical fruits juices, cookies, fruits salads, aromatica, ice creams and so on.
