Gadget review: Samsung NX100
Riding on the success of NX10, Samsung’s first mirrorless camera, NX100 also comes with a mirrorless APS-C size sensor and a three-inch AMOLED screen, plus new features such as i-Function Lens.
Mirrorless cameras were one of the digital camera trends in 2010, and they are expected to grow this year as more companies jump on the bandwagon.
What makes them special is that even though you can still play with interchangeable lenses, the same as you do with a DLSR, mirrorless cameras are much smaller and lighter.
There’s no need to explain the technicalities behind the reduction in size and weight, but do take note that mirrorless cameras don’t come with a viewfinder — this means the main source for viewing your photograph subjects is through the rear LCD or AMOLED screen.

In the weeks preceding January's reveal of the Sliding PC 7, more than 300 news items were posted about the 10.1-inch tablet computer, which touts a unique--and polarizing--slide-out keyboard. Today, "there's a very distinct split between people who are pro-Samsung and anti-Samsung," says Chris Davies, an editor at the tech blog SlashGear, "which feels very Apple."
SEMICONDUCTORS
A quarter of Samsung's revenue comes from semiconductors, bought by the likes of Dell, HP, and Microsoft, so it "has some shielding from the market," says Forrester analyst Charles Golvin. This also gives Samsung the freedom (and the cash) to toy with different technologies--Windows Phone 7, smartphones for Symbian, and Android OS, for instance--so when one of those takes off, it's ready with a top-of-the-line product.

The NX100 is part of a new breed of camera – so new in fact that no one seems to agree on what to call them. They’re defined by pocket-sized dimensions, large SLR-style sensors and interchangeable lenses.
The NX100 joins these ranks, already populated by the superb Sony NEX-5, plus various models from Panasonic and Olympus. It also has much in common with the Samsung NX10, sharing lenses with it, but this new model’s compact- rather than SLR-shaped design makes more sense for this type of camera.

CONCLUSION:
So this is a fantastic camera. It takes pretty stunning photos for what it is, and the 'i" feature on the standard lens is just a life saver. I can adjust the Apeture, ISO, and shutter speed in an instant. The video is also very good for the purpose most would have for it. I enjoy this camera, and while this doesn't have any footage or video with it, I also tried out the pancake lens, and it's focusing is very nice, the macro just feels great. Will enjoy using this camera.
PS: All was taken with standard lens, and a samsung attachable flash (for the pictures).

t's arguable, but we'd say that Samsung's NX100 is the news coming out of Photokina 2010. You could say that Panasonic's Lumix DMC-GH2 (and its 3D interchangeable lens), Fujifilm's not-yet-released FinePix X100 or Sigma's Foveon-packin' SD1 were of equal importance, but it's pretty clear who stands to lose (or gain) the most from their ginormous push in Cologne. You wouldn't know that Samsung even brought another product to the show if you casually glanced at its booth, and we were able to take the outfit's newest starlet out for a spin in order to gain a few impressions. Priced at just $599 (with a 20-50mm lens; the 20mm pancake lens bundle will run you $50 more), this October-bound camera is certainly positioned to rival the other major players in terms of MSRP. But does it actually live up to the hype? Join us after the break to find out. Image and video quality Here's the thing -- the NX100 may be a bit quicker operationally, and it may present the user with a few more advanced settings compared to a traditional point-and-shoot, but we aren't completely sold on the value proposition.
