It was shiny Saturday afternoon. I could easily notice the appearance of our guest in a black dress. When Diane Pernet entered into Samsung d’light building in Seoul, full of her images on the digital wall and warm welcome messages on the floor were greeting her. Was she touched? Sure!

Samsung d’light is an exhibition space to showcase Samsung Electronics’ product lineup that guests can test and touch the Samsung’s new products such as mobile phones, computers, cameras and other devices.

It was actually her second visit to Samsung d’light. She seemed more comfortable and more familiar than the first time. With our staff, she looked around the space and tested new products. During the tour of Samsung d’light, she was always with her camera ST550(TL225) which was the special present from the last visit. The camera has black body with a gold line that is a perfect match for her black dress, dark sunglasses, black hair and her black veil. (to see the story of her last visit, please click here.)

Diane Pernet. She is a celebrated journalist and famous fashion blogger. Through her blog (http://www.dianepernet.typepad.com/), she tells her story and communicates with people from all over the world. She is also the founder of A Shaded View on Fashion film festival, a festival of short films and videos from around the world exploring themes of fashion, beauty and style.

After the tour of new products, she had an interview with us. Bloggers and I asked about her lovely camera ST550(TL225), and her fashion career. Diane answered every question very gently and sincerely that I was so impressed with it.

Big hair, black veil, black clothes, red lips. Diane’s first impression was fierce. “Hello, how are you?” she said in a low, husky voice. It was more like a magical spell than a greeting. Elegance that seemed to be there since birth and manner difficult to be found in celebrities… would it be impossible to keep the slowly disappearing Diane living in my eyes forever.

She is an effective journalist in the world fashion industry. Also, she opened a festival named “A Shaded View on Fashion Film”. She is helping young talents to grow and for them to branch into the fashion industry through this film festival. This Diane so lovely visited Samsung D’light. It wasn’t just because Samsung ST550 had supported her movie festival. She was really enjoying the time there. She listened to the explaining staff while touching this and that and actively responding to everything. There, a red camera was shown through her black clothes; it was a Samsung ST50. She had personally put a chain on it and carried it on her neck. She said that she liked the color sensivity, beauty shot, and focus function as well as the light weight that makes it uncomfortable even when carried around on the neck as the reason in using ST50 even though it’s an old model, when asked. The red looked so good with her that even I wanted to use ST50 suddenly.

Diane Pernet, a fantasy that I had never expected on my way home, it would be nice to see her just one more time. I want to engrave her on my memory until I can draw her in my head when I close my eyes.

Finally the ST50 arrived. Coming through Pacific Ocean by plane, I can wait to open the ST50.

To be honest, I used a Samsung compact digital camera before, but this ST50 is incomparably slim and has great functions.

When officially sold, I hope there will be slim and cute pouch fitting the ST50.

12.2 Pixel. Fun in two finger ST50 Review

Sensible women s choice, 12.2M pixel ultra slim digital camera ST50

With traveling to Vietnam and Cambodia 6 days ahead, the ST50 came to me. It s supporting. I will also take DSLR, but as you know, it s heavy one. It s my first foreign travel, and I want to take a lot of picture, so I ve decided to bring the 16.6mm ultra slim ST50.

1.02cm(1/2.33 inch) high resolution CCD sensor for 12.2M pixel images. Luxurious, isn t it? As soon as I got it, I was really touched.

High pixel images guarantee clean and vivid pictures for big A2 size printing, and with the new image processor, more various color expression and vivid high quality image process are possible, so when playing back, you can feel the real. I d really like to print out pictures, too.

With the DIS (Digital Image Stabilization) function, it provides high ISO fast shutter speed and low ISO clean images at the same time, they said.

16.6mm Ultra slim body

The ST50 is 16.6mm ultra slim body which is hard to be made as a protruding type compact digital camera. With smart functions such as smart auto, and optical performance as a protruding type lens, the ST50 considers the design much, and is great for users who want to have a stylish model. Stylish ST50

Digital camera market now becomes a diversity market allowing users to select their own style. In the past, there were so many products only for pixels not for size, but now it s changed, so size, style, and functions are the points. When it comes to the ST50 from Samsung Digital imaging, it focuses on these things. With ultra slim body, stylish, and functions, it can be used any time and anywhere.

The ST50 comes with 4 colors.

For your information, my product is silver, and it s for test not for sale, so there can be difference. I only got the package for test, so the composition/box will be different from real product, so please see this for reference.

At the front side, using ultra slim stainless material, it gives high grade feelings of metal. Overall body is made of high glossy material, but only the front comes with stainless material and looks coated. As ultra slim and light weight, it doesn t affect the weight, and it s well finished, so you don t have to worry about a crack. With this feature of the material, the ST50 is strong to scratch.

Looking at the whole body, you can see the location of AF and flash fits well. On the top, the smart buttons is located, and next to it, power button, shutter/zoom dial, and speaker are located. When the smart button and power button are working, blue LED is on and gives information for users, and the light can be easily recognized even at noon. When it comes to the zoom dial, it s used not only for zoom in/out, but also volume control when watching video clips.

Protruding lens ST50

Even though the ST50 is a ultra slim type, it adopts a protruding type lens. Compared to inner zoom lens, it has some strong and weak points, when it comes to speed, the protruding type is better.

At the back, 2.7 inch LCD is almost all, and on the right side, control/setting buttons are located. For the LCD, wide angle is applied, so it provides vivid screen from any angle without color reversion.

Except picture and video selection lever, at the right side, all things are button type, and there s no wheel type mode dial. This design can be made, because there s no mode dial, and as an alternative, there s a smart button. I m going to tell you this part again with pictures.

On the bottom, there s space for battery and memory. The battery is 3.7V 720mAh and supposed to store 200 pictures, but I think it s better to have one more spare battery for convenience. I think the battery capacity could be bigger, but for the body design, it s the best idea. SD card type memory is supported up to 8GB.

20 Pin for charge and output

For Samsung product, the 20 pin can be used for AC adaptor charge and USB charge. It has higher compatibility as a USB type, and it can be charged with cigar jack in the car, so you can charge it anywhere. Except charge, using the 20 port pin, AV cable connection is possible, and can be connected to a TV. Considering there were a lot of ports, it becomes very simple.

I took pictures of the ST50 for size comparison. It s a little bigger than a credit card as a rectangular type. In thickness, it s about a half of a normal cigarette case.

The greatest thing of the ST50 is that fast shot is possible. Compared to DSLR, it can t be comparable, but simplicity and the portability are the great thing of the ST50, I think.
