[Haptic ST10] Digital cameras are also Haptic! - Preview

In the recent digital camera market, Samsung digital imaging has grown up so fat. The basic power of this growth is their technology and products which meet the customers needs. This ability to find out customers needs can be confirmed on the PMP 2009 in Las Vegas with the hybrid camera NX series. This Samsung digital imaging has released new stylish ST series. Among the series, at this time, we are going to look at the ST10 which has haptic function, hVGA LCD, face recognition, and multimedia functions.

The ST10 comes with 4 colors such as black, red, silver, and gold, and in this review, we are going to see the silver one. The biggest feature of the ST10 is the inner zoom lens not protruding type, and rotational lens cap. Beside the lens cap, Haptic, multimedia function, and smart face recognition is put on and 900M pixel has been printed.

With the 3 inch hVGA touch LCD, the number of buttons has been minimized.  Most of the functions are in the LCD, and other parts become minimized, so the design gives simple feeling.

The important thing of the touch LCD products is how to give touch feedback to users. Therefore, the ST10 supports haptic function, and give the touch feedback with vibration, so this makes it easy to use the camera. Other than that, the ST10 supports drag and gesture, and it s more convenient.

The most interesting function of the ST10 is the face recognition function. Actually, most of the cameras which were recently released support the face recognition function. However, the ST10 has more than that. It stores faces on DB, and can take those important faces. From the above picture, you can see only Einstein has been included in the DB among famous scientists.

The ST10 also supports multimedia functions like the NV9. Of course, it s not that good compared to MP3 players, but if you want to listen to music and take pictures, the ST10 is enough, I think.

The ST10 can also play a video clip, but videos have to be converted by the Samsung Converter. Beginners can easily convert files, but compared to a normal converter program, it s kind of slow.
