Samsung s Haptic digital camera, ST10

Lots of new digital cameras are flowing out from Samsung. When WB500 was released last time, I wasn t much interested in Samsung digital cameras in general. But later when I found out its specifications, I felt sorry that I already lost a chance to apply for free use. Well, I m a hungry user who has Pentax k100d DSLR, but only with a standard lens and a Pentax mx manual lens. So I ve wanted to own a compact digital camera, and WB500 had specifications close to what I wanted. These days, lots of digital camera with high pixels, high power, high zoom, and interface functions like face detection are introduced. And on a sunny but wind day of March 14^th, I finally got the chance for the trial use of the Samsung s new Haptic digital camera, ST10

With the name tag which has the name and the nickname on it, I ve got the shiny ST10 camera box.

There were camera, charger, earphone for the MP3, strap, manual, and CD included.

There are four colors of black, red, silver, and gold, and the one I got was black. Most people preferred red, but I rather liked neat feeling of black and silver. The black and red one had the same color in the LCD back side. And the silver one had a white color on the back, which looked clean and pretty. Lens was not a protruding type, and the lens cover could be turned, which is a simple structure. 

LCD is as big as 3 inch, and some of you might have already noticed that it has Haptic functions!! I took a picture of a cat figure as small as two finger joints (under auto mode). And as a hungry user who only has a standard lens, I ve missed the close-up function of the digital cameras. There is basic, macro, and super macro mode, and all the pictures are taken under macro mode. The image looked clear until 5cm from the figure, and it could get as close as 1cm under super macro mode. It s amazing. But since the lens is not a protruding type and the whole body should approach to the subject, when you shoot from the above, it shades a little. Well, it s true that at that time the only light there was the florescent lamp on the ceiling, and it was at night.

 

A digital camera with Haptic function If you click it with a finger, it can do image resizing, various special effects, or image editing such as darkness, clarity, or saturation change. Since Sumsung ST10 is not released in Korea yet, there is not a manual in Korean, yet. But if you keep clicking this and that, it is composed of simple and easy interface, convenient for beginners to use too. Some of the specifications are like following; 9,000,000 pixels, 3x inner zoom lens, 3 inch LCD, touch type Haptic UI, various multimedia functions (MP3, PMP, text viewer), face detection, beauty shot, which will be useful for those who like portrait shots, smile hot, blink detection, etc.

Lastly, I took a picture of my cat who has been watching what I ve been doing on my bed.
