Samsung EX1 review in Digital cameras

Another of those fashionable SLD (single lens, direct view) cameras? Not quite. The EX1 still qualifies as a compact camera, lacking interchangeable lenses and sporting a small 1/1.7in CCD image sensor. Nonetheless its design and features borrow heavily from the new genre.

It's quite the thing these days to bring out a fixed-focal-length, wide-angle and highly compact "pancake" lens for your SLD. Samsung is following stylistic suit by kitting out the EX1 with a very compact lens giving a 24mm equivalent wide-angle setting. It's not interchangeable like an SLD's, but what it does offer is a very fast f/1.8 - f/2.4 maximum aperture to go with a 3x zoom range.
The rest of the body is relatively chunky though, in particular its 114mm width. And there's a big disadvantage compared to true SLD cameras such as the Olympus PEN range and Panasonic Lumix G2. You don't get the advantage of a big Four Thirds sensor here, with the standard compact camera size offering a total area almost six times smaller than a Micro Four Thirds sensor.

Samsung WB600 review

"Review: Samsung Wades Into Big Zoom Compact Camera War With WB600" By Gavin Stoker | Published:04/05/2011
The battleground for the point and click shooter is getting hotter, especially where big zoom compacts are concerned. Now Samsung is jostling for position with Panasonic with its 15x optical zoom WB600 being offered with a host of added features and a robust but solid build at a bargain basement price.

Key Features

* 15x optical zoom
* 24 - 360mm Lens
* 3inch LCD screen
* 12.2 Megapixel
* 720p video recording

Announced last year, Samsung's 12.2 effective megapixel WB600 charges into battle with Panasonic's TZ camera series, for one, by virtue of shoehorning a 15x optical zoom into its compact 30mm 'thick' chassis, an improvement on its predecessor the WB500's 10x. Like the competition it eschews mini DSLR/bridge camera styling by keeping the entirety of that long lens flush with the body when not in use, meaning it will still fit easily in an average pocket or handbag – the perfect travellers companion, it would seem.

Samsung PL210 Review

samsung_pl210_450.JPG

Point-and-shoot cameras aren't known for high caliber zooming capabilities, but Samsung is announcing two new pocket-sized cameras aimed at customers who love capture images from afar. The cheaper of the two, the sub-$200 PL210, features a 14-megapixel image sensor behind a 10x optical zoom (35mm film equivalent: 27-270mm) lens. Housed in a compact, pocket-friendly casing, the PL210 offers dual image stabilization (digital and optical) and a large 3.0-inch LCD screen.

Like Samsung's other models in the PL series, the PL210 features a suite of filter and image processing technologies. Smart Filter 2.0 is mood-enhancement software with specially designed "looks" (soft focus, half tone dot, old movie, and enhanced movie) for both still images and HD 720p (30fps) movie recording. Smart Auto mode analyzes key elements of your shots -- brightness, color, motion, etc. -- and adjusts the camera settings automatically.

Spring is coming to Canterbury

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has provided the author of this article
with the mentioned digital imaging device.

Hello there! Nice to meet you! I am EU. I live in Canterbury, located
southeast of the UK. I’ve been staying here for about 20 days now, getting used
to the new culture and new life. I am excited to share my adventures in the UK
with many of you with the
Samsung EX1
. A new world viewed through the Samsung EX1! You can look
forward to some interesting and fun stories.

Samsung EX1 │ 1/500s │ f4.9 │ 9mm │ ISO 80

This past week’s weather was typical UK weather. At last the rain stopped,
leaving room for a warm and cozy sunlight and a clear blue sky. Although the
wind was still chillier then one might expect with the radiant sunlight and all,
I decided to visit the Greyfriars Garden near my place to get a full feel for
the upcoming spring.

Samsung EX1 │ 1/180s │ f3.8 │ 9mm │ ISO 80

Canterbury (Kent Country- located at 85km southeast of London) is a small
town, nothing like London, with a unique warmth and comfort not easily found
elsewhere.

Samsung EX1 │ 1/500s │ f3.9 │ 5mm │ ISO 80

Samsung EX1 │ 1/500s │ f3.9 │ 5mm │ ISO 80

The cold breeze diminished the feeling of spring, but the green leaves and
purple petals appeared to be whispering ‘spring is here!’

Samsung EX1 │ 1/180s │ f4.3.4│ 5mm │ ISO 80

This somewhat lonely and deserted bench will become ever busy in April when
people flock to the park to enjoy the spring weather.

Samsung EX1 │ 1/250s │ f4.9 │ 16mm │ ISO 80

This picture is of a grandfather gazing at his grandchild who is sitting in
a stroller drinking milk. What a lovely scene! It seemed like they were
observing the Narcissus in yellow blossom along the river fence and enjoying the
spring just like me.

Samsung EX1 │ 1/350s │ f4.9 │ 16mm │ ISO 80

Samsung EX1 │ 1/350s │ f4.9 │ 16mm │ ISO 80

Have you ever heard of ‘punting’? It refers to cruising down the river on a
boat called a ‘punt.’ Punting was mostly used for hunting or fishing in the
past, but is now mostly used for tourists. The Cambridge area is especially
famous for punting. Punting also exists in Canterbury and because the river
flowing through Greyfriars Garden is not deep, it is the best place for punting.
A couple was idly riding down the river, having a peaceful afternoon. It was a
nice match with the spring weather.

Samsung EX1 │ 1/500s │ f5.1 │ 11mm │ ISO 80

At Canterbury, you can find both winter and spring…just like a falling leaf
and flower petals. Soon the leaves will all disappear and give way to green
leaves and blossoming flowers. Approaching spring is welcoming, but I already
miss the fading winter.

Samsung NX11 Preview

Samsung Evolution Camera, NX10 becoming one with i-Function Lens

Samsung has unveiled the new NX11 in CES2011 in Las Vegas in January. The NX11 has been designed based on the NX10, and supports 14.6M pixels APS-C image sensor, ISO 3200, 720P movie recording, and 30~1/4000s shutter speed which are almost the same as the NX10. Due to these features, people can easily think there's no difference, but taking a closer look, there are some differences from the NX10 such as i-Function lens functions, panorama, and sound capture mode. Besides, it has advanced noise handling feature in high ISO, so the overall quality of the pictures has also been upgraded. This much upgrade is good enough, I think.

Chapter 10: Berlin

Samsung Electronics has provided the author of this article with the mentioned digital imaging device.
Hey there! Long time no see :) Anyway, I’m back, not that any of you were waiting for me, but hey… I like lying to myself.
Anyway, as you may now I’m argentine and I’ve lived my whole life in Argentina. Well, until past may when I moved to Switzerland. Fact is, i had to go and get my Visa in Berlin. I made a very short trip there and I took some of the photos you can see now.
What can I say about Berlin…. it’s just one of those cities that is so cool you always have to come back. I was there three times and I simply love it. It might not be the nicest city in the world, but it’s just so interesting and so full of life.. ohh…. I just want to go back there for a few more days!
Anyway… what if I just post of the pictures. Much better than reading what I have to say, huh? ;)

Eat your sweets @depachika

Did you enjoy happy Valentine? I hope you did.
I visited department store, just to buy some souvenirs for my family and friends, not for Valentine. Japanese people call the corner that sells food ‘depachika’. You can guess, ‘depa’ comes from department, and what is ‘chika’? Chika means underground. Yes, there are usually food corner on the underground floor at department store. Depachika is a very attractive world, so I recommend you go there and try to eat some Japanese sweets when you visit Japan.
